Acronym Finder for Confluence Documentation

What does Acronym Finder do?

Acronym Finder searches through all your Confluence pages and extracts acronyms and their definitions from them. These acronyms and definitions are then searchable via a simple UI so you can unlock the information hidden in your Confluence pages. Acronym Finder regularly searches your pages so it is always up to date with the latest definitions.

Searching for acronym definitions

To find the definition of an acronym do the following:

  1. Locate and click the “Apps” button at the top of Confluence

  2. Click the Acronym Finder app from the dropdown menu

  3. You will be taken to the main Acronym Finder page, you can bookmark this page to return to it in the future. The page should look like this

  4. Type the acronym you want to look up in the input box and press the “Search for acronym” button. You should then see the found definitions as below

  5. Click on any of the links below a definition to see the page where the acronym was defined so that you can understand the full context.

Permissions

If you want Acronym Finder to be able to find acronyms on any restricted pages or spaces then you need to make sure the “Acronym Finder for Confluence” user has been given at least read access to the pages/spaces.

Users searching for acronyms will only be shown definitions for pages which they already have access to so no data is leaked in that way.
